How a rewire runs
The process differs a great deal between an occupied home and an empty property, so agree the plan before booking.

Survey and agree the scope
The electrician inspects and tests the existing installation, then explains whether a full rewire, partial rewire or remedial work is supported by the findings.

Plan the circuits and positions
Agree the circuit schedule, socket and switch positions, lighting points and consumer unit location before first fix starts.

First fix
Cable routes are formed, back boxes fitted and new cabling run. This is the dusty, disruptive stage and normally needs rooms cleared.

Second fix
Accessories, lighting points and the consumer unit are fitted and connected once the surfaces are ready.

Test, certify and hand over
The installation is inspected and tested, the board is labelled, and the certificate and notification are provided.

Do I have to move out?+
Almost never. We plan it so there is always power where you need it, and whole-house isolation is limited to short, agreed periods.
Does the whole house need doing?+
Not always. Where part of it was rewired recently and tests well, a partial rewire is the honest answer and it costs less. The survey says which, and we show you the readings behind it.
What about the plaster?+
Chases are filled and made good to a plasterable finish. Decoration is separate unless you ask us to arrange it, and that is stated plainly before you agree.
How long does it take?+
It depends on size, access and whether floors lift easily. A typical three-bed runs to several days, and you get the programme with the quote rather than after we start.
What certificate do I get?+
A full electrical installation certificate with test results for every circuit, and the work notified through our NAPIT registration.
