Consumer unit replacement
£450
Fixed price
Board changes are the job Witham's estate housing brings most, and the work starts with what feeds the board rather than the board itself.

The old unit runs out of ways, or somebody has been told it needs replacing, and the real question is what actually has to change.
We check the incoming supply, the main earthing and the bonding first, because new protection only does its job when what feeds it is sound. Then the circuits are tested going back on, one at a time, with the readings recorded for each.
We are NAPIT registered under member number 80815, and NAPIT publish that listing on their own member search, so you can confirm it without asking us for anything. Beyond the registration, the things we hold ourselves to are simple: the fault explained in plain English, a price agreed before the work starts, and the certificate or report the job calls for handed over at the end.
Send the job details and you get a straight answer on what is involved and what happens next.
Your quote, updates, payments and receipts stay together.
Photos, access details and updates stay with the job from start to finish.
See a price where one is available. Any quoted work is agreed before it starts.
The final quote records the agreed consumer unit, protective devices and work around the existing installation.
The survey separates the replacement from any existing defects before work starts.
Share photos and earlier reports, then the electrician checks the board, supply and wiring.
The power is switched off while the old board is removed and the agreed consumer unit is fitted.
The circuits are tested, the board is labelled and the findings and documents are explained.

I had an EV charger installed by Valand, and I couldn’t be more pleased. From the initial quote to the final inspection, the entire process was smooth and stress-free. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure the charger was positioned exactly where I wanted it. All the necessary certificates provided and warranty as well. Excellent service from start to finish!

Most of the day, in stages. We isolate, test what is there, fit the new unit, then energise and test circuit by circuit. A house this size is normally finished inside the day.
Not on age. You need one when protection is missing or has failed, when a report has coded the board itself, or when there is no spare way for what you want to add.
It is part of the job, not an afterthought. Main bonding to gas and water is what makes the new board safe, so if it is missing it goes on the survey and into the price.
A modern unit is more sensitive, so it can reveal a fault the old one tolerated. We test each circuit before it goes back on, so anything like that is found on the day rather than after we leave.
An electrical installation certificate for the new board, test results for every circuit, and the work notified through our NAPIT registration.

Tell us the property, the postcode and what is actually happening, and add a photo of the fuse board if a circuit keeps tripping. That is usually enough for us to say which service it maps to and what the next step is. Homeowners, landlords and businesses are all welcome.
