What happens on the day
We attend. Power is off for parts of the test, so plan for that before we arrive.

Arrival and walk round
We confirm the address, look at the consumer unit and note the layout of the house or workplace. You can point out any sockets, lights or trips that already worry you.
- 02
Isolation and circuit tests
We isolate the supply, then test each circuit in turn. Lights and sockets go off while those tests run. We restore power circuit by circuit as each one is finished.
- 03
Report and certificate
We complete the EICR on site, talk through any C1 or C2 items, and leave you with the certificate. Urgent danger is isolated before we go.
What an EICR costs
An EICR from £150 covers a full inspection of the installation and a written electrical safety report. The starting price is for a typical house; larger premises take longer.
- The starting price of £150 is for a standard domestic property. Extra circuits, outbuildings or a commercial layout add time on site.
- Remedial work is quoted separately after the report. We do not include repairs in the inspection price.
- A NAPIT registered electrician carries out the test and signs the certificate.
What the law requires of landlords
- In England, private and social landlords covered by the regulations must have the fixed electrical installation inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every five years.
- The report states when the next inspection is due, which can be sooner than five years.
- A new inspection is not required simply because the tenancy changes when the existing report is less than five years old and requires no further investigation or remedial work.
- The landlord must give a copy of the report to each existing tenant within 28 days of the inspection, and to any new tenant before they occupy the property.
- Where the report requires remedial or further investigative work, it must be carried out within 28 days, or sooner if the report says so, and written confirmation obtained.
