The house is only a few years old. Can I just add a charge point?+
Usually yes. The board is modern and there is often a spare way. The check is the incoming supply and what the house already draws, particularly if solar or a battery went in with the build.
We have solar. Does that change what the board can take?+
It changes the sums. Generation and a battery both sit on the board, so the spare capacity on paper is not always the spare capacity in practice. We read the actual arrangement before adding anything.
Can the garden room run off the house sockets?+
No. An outbuilding wants its own submain, sized for what will run in it, with its own protection and its own certificate.
The cottage has had bits added over the years. Where do we start?+
With a test, not a quote. We find what is actually there, how old each part is and whether the earthing and bonding were ever brought up, then price from that.
