There is no loft. Where does the wiring go?+
Under floors and through existing voids, and in trunking or capping where there is genuinely no other route. We show you exactly where on the survey, because in a flat-roofed house that decision is most of the job.
The village is a conservation area. Does that stop work?+
No. It governs what shows. Internal wiring is not usually the issue. An external meter box, a new outside light or anything fixed to an elevation is agreed and consented before it goes up.
Can I have downlights?+
It depends on the ceiling and what is above it. Where there is no void there is nowhere for the fitting or its heat to go, so surface fittings usually give a better result than cutting into a ceiling that cannot take them.
The board was replaced years ago. Is that enough?+
Only if the earthing and bonding were done at the same time, and in houses of this age that often did not happen. It is one of the first things we test.
Can a rewire be done while we live there?+
Yes, in stages. A floor or a group of circuits at a time, each tested and certificated as it finishes, so you keep power, heating and a working kitchen throughout.
